I wouldn't wear a nanobelt....

A big issue regarding nanotechnology is manufacturing. The small feature size of nanotechnological devices which affects techniques is a hurdle that must be overcome in the future. Dr. Zhong Ling Wang at Georgia Tech has been working on producing nanotechnological materials and ensuring that they have a high yield in terms of industrial applications. He has developed a controlled material building block, an oxide nanobelt. The nanobelts are formed by evaporating the source compound. As a results, the compounds are uniform and most free from defects and dislocations. These nanobelts are good semiconductors and are important in transducers. Also these oxide nanobelts can be doped with other materials to develop differently characterized nanobelts.
