Foods That Burn Fat

Can certain foods actually burn fat? I was looking at a website and apparently there are foods that actually prevent or reduce the amount of fat that is being absorbed in the body. For example, citrus fruits like tangerines, grapefruits, lemons, limes, and oranges contain high concentrations of vitamin C. Vitamin C can liquefy or dilute fat which in turn allows fat to be washed out of the body. Soybeans are another fat burning food. Soybeans contain lecithin which guarrds against fat from building up in the body’s cells. Also Apples and other fresh fruit have a compound in their cell walls called pectin. Pectin reduces fat absorption in the cells. Pectin can bind to water and thus absorb watery substances in the body. These watery substances then attack cells causing the cells to free fat deposits. Maybe exercising isn’t the only way to burn fat. Increasing the consumption of the foods that I have listed maybe just as conducive to a fat burning regime

I've heard of grapefruits having the ability to "burn" fat. I did not know if it was true prior to reading this. I didn’t know vitamin C or pectin were the responsible components for reducing fat absorption in grapefruits. Interesting…

Also, green tea is known as a good fat burner. Green tea is rich in a type of polyphenols called catechins. Catechins reduce body fat accumlataion and cholesterol levels.
