Few days ago,I got a package from my parents in Korea. The package contained Korean red ginseng candies and tea with a message saying "stay healthy". I regularly get this paracell full of ginseng products since I came to study abroad and I believe this really keeps me stay healthy.
In U.S, ginseng is not as popular as it is in Asian countries. In my culture, ginseng has been known as a medicine for all types of sickness. The main active ingredients of ginseng are ginsenosides. Ginsenosides increase protein synthesis and activity of neurotransmitters in the brain. Ginseng helps the formation of blood vessel and blood circulation in the brains, thereby improving memory and cognitive abilities. Ginseng is also used for diabetes, infections, radiation and chemotherapy protection, to aid in sleep, and to stimulate the appetite.
Moreover, ginseng contains steroid called panaxtriol. This steroid is similar in structure to anabolic steroids found naturally in human body. This makes ginseng ideal for people especially athletes looking for a natural alternative to anabolic steroid.
The quality and price of ginseng are determined by its age because the age of ginseng when harvested plays a major role in determining the natural level of ginsenocides. The older the plant, the higher the ginsenocide content. So finding old aged ginseng is like finding gold in western countries.

You should have done your second critique on an article about ginseng! That is very nice of your family to send you a care package. Do you send them treats from America?
I've never seen red ginseng candies before. I know that many Asians used ginseng to promote their health. Do you have enough candies to share? I'd love to taste one.
