Who doesn't like pizza? But of course we all know its very unhealthy for you... right? well it is indeed but that doesn't mean that the nutritional value of pizza can be increased. Food Chemists from the University of Maryland are trying to increase the antioxidant levels in foods that are wheat based, so whole wheat dough must be used in making the pizza.
Also higher antioxidant levels have been recorded when whole grain wheat dough was cooked for longer periods of time and at higher temperatures. Of course theres the problem... nobody wants burnt pizza.
Although adding wheat dough helps make the pizza healthy, there is still a problem with all that fatty cheese. using reduced-fat cheese is a good way to solve that problem... but of course there you will probably be sacrificing some of the taste for better health.
