Eating the Evidence

An interesting article I came across regarded caterpillars eating hairs and the bugs being used for forensic evidence. This is pretty cool and appears to be a result of thinking outside of the box. A deceased person was found and using the bugs, a team of forensic scientists were able to utilize the hairs and perform mitochondrial DNA analysis. This provided enough information for the team to determine when the person died which was contradictory to witnesses' accounts. Usually one wouldn't expect bugs to play a roll in finding information for an investigation of a death.
