Forensics Labs in Universities

I came across an article regarding the construction of a new forensic science lab facility at Oklahoma State University in Tulsa. The school financed the majority of the construction costs, roughly 21.87 million dollars, while the city dished out 16.86 million dollars for the new facility. The purpose is to give the former scientists, as well as those wishing to enter the field, better and roomier facilities to practice. Also the city has only 20 scientists and staffers total and performed 2,550 tests, yet has a backlog of 2,398 cases (not just tests)! This can only be better, as it provides a learning environment for the next generation, as well as better facilities for current scientists in the city's forensics department. I wish that more schools would take the initiative to join government officials to merge educational as well as practiced forensic science.
