So while I was on the Internet, the usual annoyance occurred...a pop up. This pop up however was interesting. It discussed an amazing new super food, the acai berry. A woman described how the acai helped her in a dramatic weight loss of thirty pounds. The acai has also been used in the media recently in one of my favorite television shows Ugly Betty, and is described as helping make Adrianna Lima beautiful while growing up in Brazil (IS the acai the reason a lot of supermodels are now Brazilian?). So I decided to look up what the acai is helpful in.
The acai berry originates from the Brazilian rain forests and first was used by the natives for its health benefits. The acai berry helps in weight loss by allowing the body to burn more calories during activities. It also contains fatty acids, is a great source of dietary fiber, and helps to burn carbohydrates. Lastly the acai has a high antioxidant content and has anti-aging properties. With all these great features why is the acai diet not as widespread as Atkins' diet ...at least with the acai berry diet you can eat bread.

Do you know who sponsors the second site that you listed? I cannot judge the validity of the information because I can't tell who is providing the information.
Looking at the second website, I found that acai berries were introduced to the Western culture in the 1990s, so that may be a reason why people living in the United States have not had as much exposure to the berry to use it in a popular weight loss diet plan. In addition, the second website said that the acai berries are found in Brazil, in the Amazon forest. Can they be found in the United States?
I did not find a source sponsor either, but I did find this disclaimer:

I was interested in finding more information about the acai berry and any weight loss connection. WebMD has an article that talks about the acai berry and how it has anthocyanins and antioxidants to be a healthy fruit and give the berry its dark purple color. The article states that more research is being done to see if there is anything special about the acai berry to make it a particular food to eat in losing weight, though nothing has been found so far. The berry is, however, a healthy fruit and can help with a healthy diet that does show signs of weight loss.
