Omega-3 Brain Booster

Although Omega-3 sounds like the name of a Transformer, Omega-3 is actually an unsaturated fatty acid. It is called omega-3 because the third bond from the end of the fatty acid its first carbon-carbon double bond. Omega-3 has really taken off in the public mind because of its apparent ability to help ward off Alzheimer's Disease and promote higher mental functioning. Unfortunately, our bodies cannot synthesize omega-3 fatty acids; therefore it is important to include foods high in omega-3 into our diets, foods such as flax and fish.

How does Omega-3 ward off the onset of Alzheimer's Disease? One of the common characteristics found in Alzheimer's Disease is the presence and buildup of beta amyloid plaque in the brain that is thought to be toxic to neurons. People with Alzheimer's lose their ability to think and remember because they are literally losing their minds; their brains begin deteriorating.

Omega-3 found in fish oils has been found to increase the production of LR-11, a protein in the brain known to destroy proteins associated with beta amyloid plaque. In brains afflicted by Alzheimer's, lower levels of LR-11 are found. So, for the health of brains everywhere, please consume your flax, your fish, or pick up a bottle of delicious Omega-3 Gummy Fish Brain Boosters!
